Name:Light Yagami
Bio:
The world is a mess...

...and I just need to rule it.

Name: Light Yagami
Fandom: Death Note
Desired Age: 17
Desired PB: Zac Efron
Desired Job: Student

Sexual Orientation: Straight

Appearance: Light is a handsome young man, standing at about 5'10 with a lanky frame. His complexion is slightly tanned and his hair is a sandy shade of blond. His most striking feature is his intense brown eyes, which convey his emotions well; with the right amount of anger and displeasure in his expression, he can be quite intimidating.

Personality: Above everything else, above his manipulative tendencies and homicidal habits, Light is intelligent. He is a logical, analytical being who thrives on knowledge and values the same trait highly in others. Light can be impatient with people who aren't as smart as he is, but he hides it well. His intelligence allows him to make intricate and complicated plans and to always stay a step ahead of his competitors and enemies.

Light is naturally charismatic, which makes him charming and likable, especially to women. He wins people over easily, a trait that he frequently uses to his advantage. He is extremely manipulative, willing to lie to others in order to get them to do what he wants: for example, his relationship with Misa.

While he appears normal to everyone with perhaps with exception of L, Light is a megalomaniac with a god-complex. He believes that he has the power to determine for the world who is good and who is evil, and that he has the right to pass "righteous judgement" on those he views as evil.

Light begins the series as innocent, truly believing that what he's doing is making the world a better place. By its end, he is consumed by his arrogance, drunk on power, and concerned only with ruling the "utopia" he is in the process of creating.

History: Light Yagami was born on February 28th to Soichiro Yagami, police chief, and Sachiko Yagami, housewife. His younger sister Sayu came along not long after. His childhood was normal enough. In school, he quickly emerged as the most intelligent and capable of his classmates. By the time he reached highschool, he was well ahead of the pack, a serious college-bound student that was incredibly bored.

One day in his senior year, Light happened to pick up a black notebook titled "Death Note", that claimed that anybody whose name was written in the book, provided the writer could picture the individual whose name they were writing, would die. The notebook contained rules regarding the use of the death note: unless means of death were specified, the person would die in 40 seconds of a heart attack; the writer had 6 minutes and 40 seconds to specify details of the death. Intrigued but wary, Light took the note home and pondered over whether or not to use it. He decided that if he was going to use it, he should use it on someone who deserved to die. Turning on the TV, he found a news story about a man holding children hostage. The man's image and name was given. Light wrote down the name; forty seconds later, the man died of a heart attack.

In his first week of possessing the Death Note, Light is estimated to have killed somewhere between 50 and 100 criminals. It was at this time he was introduced to Ryuk, the shinigami (god of death) that had dropped the Death Note into the human world, who only Light could see or hear. By this time, Light had decided that he would use the Death Note to pass righteous judgment upon criminals in order to create a utopia in which no crime existed. Ryuk, impressed and amused by Light's progress, stuck around for his own entertainment.

It didn't take long for crime-fighting agencies around the globe to discover the mass murder taking place. Even though the people dying were mostly criminals on death row, murder was murder and they were compelled to act. In stepped L, the mysterious and always-unseen "greatest detective in the world". With L's help, the police were able to figure out that the killer, who had been nicknamed Kira by the masses, needed to see someone's face and know their name in order to kill them, and that Kira was located in the Kanto region of Japan. The investigation was handed over to the National Police Agency in Japan, and was headed by Soichiro Yagami. Many officers, fearing for their lives, quit the special task force against Kira. The small number who remained eventually met L face to face.

L determined that Kira must have access to police intelligence, and started an investigation into police members and their families. When he realized he was being followed, Light used the Death Note to stage a bus-jacking and learned the agent's name in the process. He killed the agent as well as the twelve other FBI agents operating in Japan, and the US pulled out of the Kira case. Light later runs into the agent's fiance, Naomi, and kills her for her suspicions regarding the Kira case.

By the time Light began attending To-Oh University, L had determined that Kira was a member of one of two families, one of which being the Yagamis, and considered Light to be a suspect. L followed Light to university and openly admitted to him who he was, and that he considered Light to be a suspect. Despite being a suspect and because of his impressive reasoning skills, L asks Light to join the task force.

Around this time, four video tapes were sent to Sakura TV, claiming to have been made by Kira. The task force quickly determines that they were made by a Second Kira, a copy-cat. Light quickly makes contact with the Second Kira, Misa Amane, a gullible girl who had recieved another Death Note dropped into the human world. She asks him to be her boyfriend, and he agrees, hoping that this will give him some sort of advantage later on. Misa is arrested by the Task Force due to evidence that links her to the tapes. Light writes the fake 13-Day Rule in the Death Note, stating that a person who has written in the Death Note before must write again within 13 days, or else they will die, and then he and Misa give up their Death Notes to their respective shinigami (Light to Ryuk, Misa to a shinigami called Rem), renouncing ownership and losing all memories of ever having had the Death Note. Light demands to be put under surveillance along with Misa. Misa's Death Note is buried, and Light's is given to a member of the Yotsuba group, a small corporate group that begins using the note to get ahead in business.

After thirty days, with the Yotsuba group killing in the real Kira's place, Light and Misa are released, but not without conditions - Misa is still to be watched, and Light is chained to L. Light, lacking his Death Note memories, rejoins the task force with zeal, eager to catch the murdering Kira, oblivious to the fact that he's searching for himself. During this time, Misa is reunited with Rem. The task force identifies one member of the Yotsuba group as being Kira, and make plans to arrest him.

As the Yotsuba Kira is apprehended, the task force comes into contact with the Death Notes, allowing the rest of the team to see Ryuk - and giving Light his memories back, just as he had planned. He kills the Yotsuba Kira with a piece of the Death Note he'd had hidden in his watch. Light convinces Rem, who cares very deeply for Misa, that the only way to keep Misa safe would be to murder L. This would result in Rem's death, as a shinigami who kills for personal motives dies instantly. Only Rem is capable of doing this, because a shinigami's eyes see a person's name and their lifespan. Compelled by her feelings for Misa, Rem kills L and his butler Watari. L ended his life trying to prove that Light was Kira, and failed only because of the fake 13-day rule. Light takes the Death Note from Rem's sandy corpse and gains ownership of it: he now is owner of two Death Notes, one of which remains secret to the task force. At the request of the task force, who fear what will happen if word gets out that L is dead, Light takes on the role of L.

At this point the series takes a seven-year intermission. During this time, Kira becomes more and more accepted by the world, and is even cheered on by many. Light enters the National Police Academy, allowing him access to information on criminals. In America, Near, one of L's successors, has determined that L has died, and after he conveys this information to the President, a special task force - Special Provision for Kira - is created. The other of L's successors, Mello, disappears into the world of the mob, determined to track down Kira before Near does.

When we rejoin the series, the NPA Director, Takimura, has been kidnapped by mobsters working under Mello, and the FBI is trying to get the Japanese to hand over the Death Note in their possession. When Takimura commits suicide, Mello goes one step further and kidnaps Sayu Yagami, demanding the Death Note for her freedom. Through careful plotting, he gets it, and Sayu is released unharmed. In their attempt to regain the Death Note, they fail and Soichiro Yagami is killed.

Light, as L, begins communications with "N" - Near. He quickly realizes who they are and comes to the conclusion that he has to kill them both. Around this time, Mello threatens the US President with the Death Note in exchange for all the information that has been gathered by SPK. The President complies, but instantly contacts Light, who wins his trust and gains his support.

Around this time, Near figures out that the second L is in fact Kira. At the same time, the US government stops their pursuit of Kira and the SPK is shut down. Light decides that it's time for the public to hear Kira's ideals, and chooses Demegawa, a TV host with a reputation for being a Kira supporter, to act as his mouthpiece. Near attempts to convince the Japanese task force that Light is Kira, and three agents, Aizawa, Mogi, and Ide, begin to have doubts about Light. Because of this, Light decides that it's no longer safe for him to use the Death Note and sends it to a Kira supporter named Teru Mikami. Realizing that Demegawa has gone off of Kira's message, Mikami kills Demegawa. Light meets with newswoman and Kira supporter Kiyomi Takada under the pretense of investigating, and chooses her as his new spokesperson.

Near moves his headquarters to Japan and puts a tail on Mikami. Light asks Takada to begin killing in Mikami's place, and gives Mikami a fake Death Note. Believing he saw Mikami write down a name into the fake Death Note, an agent of Near confirms that Mikami is the "X-Kira". After this confirmation, Near tampers with the fake Death Note and arranges a date for confrontation with Light. Around this time, Mello kidnaps Takada. Takada kills Mello using her Death Note, and Light kills Takada shortly after. Near realizes that Mikami has been carrying around a fake notebook while keeping the real notebook inside a bank. He replaces the real notebook with a fake.

Near, Light, and their respective teams meet inside the Yellow Box Warehouse on January 28th, 2010. As Near had suspected, Mikami is also there, hidden. Under orders given to him by Light prior to the engagement, Mikami writes down the names of everyone in the room except for himself and Light. When he's finished, he alerts Light to his presence and Light admits that he's Kira while claiming victory - not realizing that Mikami was using a fake notebook until it was too late. Sensing Light's defeat, Ryuk takes the real Death Note and writes down Light's name. Light dies forty seconds later of a heart attack.

In-Game History: Light's upbringing in Harmony was relatively normal. He was doted upon by his parents and could be said to have been spoiled. As a child, he excelled academically from an early age. He was sociable and likable and had no issues making friends.

In highschool, Light focuses solely on academics, forgoing things like sports and joining only the chess club. He remains somewhat popular, especially with girls - he's not sure why other people tend to like him, but he uses it to his advantage. Despite his popularity with women, Light rarely dates and has yet to engage in a long-term relationship.
